Hello everybody!

Ive been lurking for sometime now, and feel now i am in the position to post.

For years now most of my adult life, I've had credit cards, loans etc.. and never really gave it a thought, easy come, easy go, but now i want to do something about clearing them.

I have made some major changes personally in the last 2 weeks, stopped the fags, and given up drinking at the weekends, as i used to spend a fortune after a few beers on eBay on rubbish! ( seemed like a good idea at the time):rotfl:
I also have a thing for boys toys, and stopped myself the other day from spending another £600 on the CC, as for the first time i felt i couldn't justify it.

I am coming the end of a loan with A&l and through these boards looked at reclaiming my PPI which is now in progress, so fingers crossed;)

Both my CC balances have been transferred to 0% cards, and hope to clear them ASAP.
I wanted to make the changes so i can dent my mortgage currently with Halifax 97k

Most of all i now feel in control and not the other way round, i am fortunate enough to earn a good salary , and i want to make good use of it.

Thank you to all for giving me the inspiration to look carefully at my life and where i was heading. :j

    Hi Hanna,

Just starting on the quest to become debt free, so got a quite a way to go yet!

If i was ahead of the game i would not be in this position:rotfl:

Ive spent most of the weekend on here picking up tips, and the advice is second to none:j

The stopping smoking is going well though i do get the odd pang now and then.

At least you have it planned out! It's more than I've done. I've only managed to clear so much off the debt for 2007 because a person rear-ended me and wrote off the car. The budgeting plans long term aren't really up to much.

I quite smoking back in March and haven't touched them since. If you need a little hint, join the free Boots Health Club (if you have an advantage card). You get bombarded with lots of junk mail, but if you flash your advantage card at the tills, you get nicorette gum half price ;).

I hope it goes well for you. Keep us up to date.

  • :T Well done for quiting smoking, keep it up!!
Although I still owe quite a bit, I, like you feel in control, rather than the debt controlling me.
Great you managed to stop yourself spending too, the feeling as your debt reduces is far better than the feeling of guilt you'd have had you spent the money:j

Keep going you WILL do it
