Husband now bankrupt - when will OR office get in touch

Hi guys. My husband has been declared bankrupt (me to follow next month). How long before the receiver's office get in touch normally please?

  • Hi vivki, we filed on the evening of Tuesday 4 Sept, received our bankruptcy approval the next day and had our telephone interviews on Monday 10 Sept. All quite quick and the OR said we wouldn't hear from them again. Mind you, I've seen other posters on here who've been told the same thing only for the OR to ask about some detailor other in the future.

    Good luck.

To add to my earlier comment. I have a Nationwide account which I was worried would be closed but they have said it will be fine to keep with the existing account number etc. My husband has a Santander account which they say they will close when they hear from Insolvency Service so he has moved his last few pounds out of it while he still can. He had no overdraft facility or any debt with Santander and OR had said they had no interest in the account but Santander didn't care. He also has a Nationwide account so he has moved his direct debts etc to them from Santander. I would say Nationwide have been very helpful and it is a relief if you can feel your bank account is safe. People can't survive without easy access to online banking these days.

Thank you. He’s going to ring the receivers today to get an appointment booked for Monday if possible. He’s with hsbc but I did think nationwide would be a good choice!
