Hiya
I’m due to be discharged on the 1st Nov this year. What normally happens? My house was repossessed and currently the mortgage company are trying to sell. My case officer at the official receivers office have taken over my half of the house but I still receive statements. What happens to the house at my discharge date? I’ve not been living there for 2 years and it’s wmpty.
I’m not getting any response from the receiver for my questions so I was hoping someone could put my mind at rest on what normally happens at discharge.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
At the moment your mortgage is a secured debt so outside the scope of your bankruptcy. You (at this moment) are still responsible to pay it. Clearly you wont pay as you dont live there anymore, and the only action they can take has already happened - repossession.
As soon as the property is sold, the mortgage company will get however much the sale generates to go against their mortgage and any shortfall will immediately become part of your bankruptcy, whenever that happens and no matter how much it is.
You don't need to do anything.

Thankyou. I was really worried this would continue. It just seems like a “magical” thing that happens at discharge and I feel like something more should happen0
