Skipton Mortgage application process

Hi All,
Has anyone applied for a mortgage through Skipton Building Society recently? We are first time buyers and have a mortgage broker who has done it all for us and the application was submitted on Friday 31st August 2018 (same day we got our DIP which was a 'pass') and the valuation was immediately arranged which was done last Wednesday 5th September 2018. Credit checks seemed to have been done as it come up on my Noddle report.
It 's now gone a bit quiet.
I contacted Skipton directly yesterday and they said our application hasn't even gone to the underwriting stage yet, even though the valuation has been done, which seems strange to me, I thought the underwriting would be done before the valuation?
The guy on the phone said the underwriting and valuation report will be assessed all on the same day, and they have a big backlog at the moment and it's taking approx. 11 days. He said ours should be done Monday 17th September.
Anyone going through a similar situation?
Thanks

Lots of people by the sounds of it :-P
Lenders vary in how they work. Some will do the underwriting prior to the valuation, others will instruct the valuation on day one and do the underwriting once you are front of the list.
Skipton have some unique products available so there can be times they are busy. You are also buying towards the end of the busy period so many lenders are taking a little longer to assess applications. Dont read anything in to it, it is not the sign of a good or bad application it is just a case of waiting until you get to the front of the queue.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
