Disposal of old or broken electronic equipment

Hello
Does anyone know how or where to dispose of old or broken electronic equipment, I'm thinking particularly of mobile phones / tablets / computers with perhaps broken screens, so therefore it is not possible to wipe the memory off them because of this...is there a secure way of disposal that would not be too expensive?
Thank you.

The simplist solution would be to take a drill and bore several holes in it. Or even a hammer and smash it to pieces0

I am not sure about the expenses, but definitely recommend wiping memory off before sending them away. You can extract so much data even from broken phones. I would not mind spending few coins in it. Electric waste is no joke for enviroment0
