How can I find out what headset I have

I want to replace the headset on my bike but I don't know what type I have apart from it says cartridge system inside and the bearing is pressed in to the frame. So would anyone what type I have or know of any good bike forums that don't tell you to go to the local bike shop.
If I remove the red circlip in the picture the centre cup comes out with all loose ball bearings.

The bike is a whistle sauk 1383d but I cannot find any information online. I've tried a few online bike stores but none of them could tell me what bearing I would need.

The facebook group Bike Bible usually has a lot of people who can advise on these things

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • I doubt if they are loose bearings nowadays. They will be in a cage, but either way its no problem to get a little grease to put the balls back in again if they drop out
.I used to change my head set bearings now and then .it was an easy job. The lower cage where the balls fit is a press fit into the head but easily drifted out from underneath. Then the upper cage is screwed down onto it
My modern carbon fibre framed racing bikes headset looks a bit complex so I will not be messing with it unless there is a lot of play.
You can push the handlebars holding the front brakes on back and forwards to feel for movement (play ) in the steering head

I'd post your question on the Cycling UK forum here:

No this is not the bike. I've tried looking on the manufacturer website but it's in Italian.
