I think there is more in the South East than you think.

Since they brought out Safeway and converted them to Morrisons there Southern store penetration is a lot better.

In fact where I live they out number Adsa.

This is quite an interesting map:

If you just filter on Morrisons, they are pretty sparse in the South East (compare with Sainsbury's, for example).

That map is a bit skewed as they also include the local little 'express' and 'metros'. Morrisons only have main stores now.

When we did have thier local stores, it added another 5 shops in my area, 2 I used to shop at regularly.

The local Asda is notorious. It's walking distance but I prefer not to be mugged :o

I know what you mean. The old council estate that's behind the shop does not help the reputation.

Once went shopping there and counted 11 police cars blocking the bus stop and car park. Evidently 2 guys had shoplifted from the store and were fighting with two PCo's to get away. Knew something was up in that direction as I'd seen the police cars in convoy as I walked down Southchuch Road near the pub ealier.

One word Vf4meplse don't walk near the Utopia Estate behind the Kursaal late at night. You WILL get mugged.

Prospect Close IS apart of the Kursaal Utopia estate. Bang in the middle in fact.

I'm no scaredee cat but even I won't go into that area, even in a car after dark.

I suppose the aspirational naming is part of the Utopian effect....

We used to shop in Makro. You needed to prove you had a business, don't know if it's still the case. We found that we saved on some things but not everything, our local Tesco was often cheaper. Be aware that Makros prices do not include VAT so this has to be added on where relevant.
