Dissolving a partnership

Hi,
I’m asking on behalf of a friend.
My friend and his ex partner started up a business in 2017. The relationship broke down Feb 2018 and he decided to take over the business. He needs her utr number to dissolve the partnership, complete his tax returns and claim working tax credits but she’s refusing to contact HMRC to get her utr and pass on to the accountant to dissolve. Does anyone have any advice? My friend has contacted HMRC but they can’t provide him with her utr due to confidentiality. Tia

What does their partnership agreement say?Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0

His partner needs to agree this before it can happen.
Maybe try relate or similar?
Or let the business fold?
Or seek professional legal advice on how to formally dissolve the business without the consent of an owner.Originally Posted by shortcrust

You don't need a UTR number to dissolve a partnership.
You need it to file a tax return.
Perhaps your accountant can file a tax return without the second partner's UTR number with a letter of explanation?0
