Help! Monthly salary question

Hi

I recently started a new job that pays monthly wage on the second Friday of each month.

I started on and worked the last week in August - I was told that I will be getting paid this week (second friday of the month) for the one week I worked in August and I will be getting my Septembers wage in Octobers salary (second Friday in October).

It seems quite late in the month to be getting paid for previous months work. What kind of arrears basis is my company operating, two weeks or 6 weeks in arrears?

Does this sound normal?

Thanks, Im confused, not stupid!

You've answered your own question - August's work is paid two weeks after the end of August, in Sep; September's work is paid two weeks after the end of Sep, in October. This is perfectly normal - you're being paid 2 weeks in arrears.
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".
