I have a degree in Chemistry but have not used it since leaving and probably couldn’t even find my way around the Periodic Table anymore...as for spray oil, I just stick olive oil in an empty spray bottle and it works fine. If your partner struggles to push it I’d suggest investing in a posh one from Lakeland.
Fry light contains Sunflower oil (58%), water, alcohol, lecithin, vitamin E, flavour so you’re not wrong about the alcohol. The lecithin will emulsify it and vit E probs a preservative. You can buy both from Holland and Barrett. If you’re keen on replicating.0 -
I use the spray bottle I originally bought. I wash an refill the bottle with rapeseed oil. I saw it on the BBC most likely Eat well for less.0

Used this for more than 18 months. Occasional wash good to go. No links to it recommended to me, cant fault it.0 -
How funny, I was researching oil pump spray bottles the other day as I detest the smell of Frylight. You can get the bottles from Amazon or Lakeland. Some people have opened the Frylight bottles, washed them out, and used their own oils. Oil is not that unhealthy, even if poured. I use a ceramic (fantastic!) frying pan and a teaspoon of light olive oil to stir fry or cook eggs and omelettes, and I have lost 9 lbs!0

I bought this spray oil bottle from Amazon and it is AMAZING. I follow slimming world (very loosely atm :rotfl:) and its saved me so much money compared to buying frylight! I just fill with vegetable oil and it works perfectly, no need to add anything.
I have used happily for the last year and only refill the bottle once every 2-3 months. The sprays are a little heavier than the mist you get from frylight, but I just use three sprays (instead of about 10 with frylight!) Frylight contains emulsifiers too, so using a spray bottle with just oil has to be healthier?
I find I need less oil since replacing my frying pans with these Tefal non stick ones I bought at half price from Tesco in July. From horrible eggs to perfect ones, and for ages I thought it was just me and I couldn't master the art of the perfect fried egg!:hello:Wife & SAHM of 4 children aged between 9 and 3

Not sure if this is any help, but an interesting read,
http://www.foxnews.com/health/2015/11/03/truth-about-what-s-really-in-cooking-sprays.html
Just read that article. As interesting as it is, especially the continued discussion on GMOs, the rest is pretty dumb.... really dumb, in fact.... even for Fox News, who put the dumb in dumber, if we're honest.
"There's no harmful effects of this product, but I don't like it because it's used somewhere else" Huh? Logic fail right there. If there's no harmful effects, then it's safe.... so, what's the problem?
Frylight doesn't use propellants, it's an old fashioned 'vacuum' style squirter. Basically, by opening the valve, it sucks up the oil. No aerosol whatsoever. I don't believe it uses Diacetyl either.
That article, interesting, but generally speaking, probably not accurate for the UK.0 -
I make a version of frylight as recommended by a Slimming World consultant. 1 part oil, 8 parts water in an old fry light bottle. Shake very very very well before using and its fine.'Get Brexit done' is a lie[
