Is this a simple email scam or something more serious?

I have received a email today from 'Walker Love' (looking it up it seems to be debt collectors?) in this email it states about a direct debit of £150 being set-up with a bank account (doesn't match any of my bank details I've got) Never heard of this company before and 100% don't owe any money to anyone, not sure what to do about thanks, please advice.

Hi ecreaney and welcome to MSE,

Initially I would suggest that you are right to be cautious and you should be careful about giving any personal details. If they claim a direct debit has been set up that you don't recognise then contact your bank to confirm if anything is amiss. If nothing is there, then there is no need to reply or offer them any personal/ bank details and just wait and see if anything arrives in the post chasing the debt further (which would be unlikely).

If a direct debit has been set up that you don't recognise you should tell your bank, and contact the company in question and raise a complaint asking for more details of what they are chasing. Good luck,

    Laura

I get emails all the time supposedly from Amazon about something I have recently purchased, and if it wasn’t me, please click here.

All a scam, delete it and ignore.

If your email is not overly unique and could be used as a result of a mistype/mistake trying to email someone else, then I would perhaps guess at that.

However, as said, not your debt and not your account = not your problem.

Walker Love are based in Scotland. Do you live in Scotland?

Does the email say who their 'client' is?

What email address did the sender use?

Possibly a scam but I thought it best to help you check this out in case it isn't :)
