I've had the following letter from Link:
Date: 3rd September 2018
Despite our efforts to collect this sum through communication and negotiation the balance of £1343.66 remains unpaid.
We give you 14 days notice that the account will be passed to Messrs Kearns Solicitors without further reference to you. If you want to avoid this course of action, contact us urgently to discuss settlement or an alternative dispute resolution.
I'm really worried about it, and don't know what to do. I think a CCJ would mean me losing my job.

There is a whole process to go through before a CCJ becomes an option. Is the debt yours? Have you been acknowledging the debt? What is the debt for? How old is the debt?I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0 -
The debt is mine, I stopped paying in March to let everything default and then going onto a plan with Stepchange.
I was going to go onto dmp with them in June but I started a new job and I've been paid double since June (paid it back to work) but on my payslip it looks like I'm earning double to what I really am - this will be sorted for September pay.
The debt is for a store card & I got the card in 2013, stopped paying this March due to my circumstances.0 -
Do you have lots of debt or is this the only one.
If you have lots of creditors, then I suggest you continue with your plan to work with StepChange. If this is your only debt, then I would suggest communicating with Link, in writing, with a view to setting up a repayment planI work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

I have lots of debt, about £15k in total.
Should I contact link to let them know about StepChange and give them the reference number?
The whole "passing onto a solicitor" thing has really freaked me out, watched can't pay we'll take it away in the week and I think its just spiked my anxiety0 -
I'm assuming you are on a DMP with Stepchange? If that is the case, then let StepChange do all the communication on your behalf. You could contact StepChange to let them know you have received the letter from Link.
As far as the letter goes re "passing to a solicitor". Try not to worry. These are just scare tactics from Link to try to pressurise you. Legal enforcement is a long way off.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

No I'm not on a DMP with stepchange, they wanted proof of my income but the problem I've had is that I've changed jobs within the same company. They've paid me for my new job and my old job, so it looks like I earn far more than I do according to my payslip, this will be sorted this month so I'm going onto a DMP then.0
