Hello there
Great efforts already, especially with littlies. I only have one littlie and he's always needing something - all that growing they do!:eek:0 -
It's much easier to be frugal when the sun is shining!0

Another week gone, we've ordered our new windows £4220 in total. Paid the 25% deposit and balance due on delivery in 3 weeks time. We've been saving for this so glad it's now done and we can start building the savings back up again.
Not much happening in mortgage overpayments. Did a small Tilly tidy of account and that's it this week. In general money saving stuff did take lunch into work every day this week and grocery spends are definitely becoming down.
Been looking after my nephew's today so been letting them run riot in the garden most of the day. Oldest spent most of the day on Fortnite though...her mum seemed happy enough with this but not looking forward to mine getting to that age
Only 3 months now until DS finishes nursery and I should have a bit more money available to throw into the overpayments to meet my MFW 2019 target.0 -
Hello,
Logged into mortgage this morning... current balance £174,146.31. Getting close to the next £1000 and another brick filled in on my sheet... very tempted to pay the £146.31 to get a nice round number but I'm resisting.
Feels like we are leaking money this week- bought a new cupboard for DS, paid to fix DH's bike, new haircut for DH, bone scan for DH via his work, overnight hotel booking for holiday in August as we have to catch an early ferry, deposit for hen do next year, £500 balance for holiday cottage in June and paid £90 for DH to do gliding flight with his brother.. Does anyone else have periods like this where the money just seems to disappear? It's all for stuff we'll use or enjoy but still frustrating when you have big plans
In better money saving news we only have 3 more months of nursery for DS before he starts school and we'll be saving some money on nursery fees. I'm also in discussions about going back to work full time with compressed hours so I still have every other Friday with my DD. That's in the early stages of discussion as it needs to be agreed by work and it would also require DH to do a bit more. So lots to work out before that might happen, but would give us more money whilst still maintaining a balance of spending time with DS and DD.
Little things this week include a Tilly tidy of the account, some YouGov surveys and Prolific studies... a drop in the ocean compared to the money we are spending but I guess it all helps. All the little steps and plodding on are what's needed when you're in for the long haul.
More tea please0 -
Hello,
I can't believe I haven't posted on here since May! Was quite difficult to find my diary and has made me realise just how many diaries are called some variation of "long' and 'journey'...kept thinking I'd found my diary and then realising it was someone elses :rotfl:
I may need to change the name of my diary
I will post current figures later as I'm currently having a lazy Sunday with a cup of tea in bed but I'm now in the £160,000s so making some progress.
Since my last post I have gone back to full time hours ...been doing it for just over a month now so getting into the swing of things and will hopefully make a big difference in terms of overpayment and my chances of promotion.
We had a nightmare with our windows ..they had loads of problems and then the company went bust. Luckily we paid by credit card and managed to make a successful claim for the money back :money: ...so all's well that ends well.
Plan today is a quiet one at home after busy few weeks and no spending.

Hello,
Current mortgage balance is £169,327.15 that's a reduction of £11,867.79 since I started this diary
I should be in a position to make some additional overpayments this year to reach my MFW2019 target of £4000 in OPs but next year I'm really going to push myself to do even more.

Hello,
Another week gone and DH pay day so made an overpayment of £750 this morning. Very pleased with that on top of our standard monthly overpayment.
I've been on annual leave all week and had some rare time to myself so feeling refreshed and the house is clean in the first time in forever :j . It really helps my mood to have a clean house for some reason and working FT plus DS and DD it doesn't happen often enough.
In terms of spends had to buy new glasses following my check up and have started buying a few bits for Christmas. Car had a fault light come on in the middle of the week but has gone off again so not sure whether there's a problem or not...garage said to bring it back if the iight comes back on again so we'll see... and keep fingers crossed it's nothing that's going to cost us a lot to fix. No major unnecessary spends ... just £2 on some chocolates using the spare cash in my purse which I consider to be an occasional necessity
We are off to see friends for the weekend tomorrow so there will be some spends but hopefully it won't be too expensive.
Thanks,

Hello
Current mortgage balance £168,706.58.
Monthly payment just gone out, which we have increased so that there is a standard overpayment of £413.49 each month.
I need to start thinking about next year's goals now... I'd like to get the balance down to £150,000 by the end of 2020 which is a reduction of £18,706.58 as of today... I'm not sure how realistic that is but think that will be my stretch goal and we will see how we get on.
I also want to set some personal goals this year, I feel that I've neglected myself a bit over the last year and it's showing. I don't feel like myself a lot of the time, not surprisingly with a 2 year old and a 5 year old I suppose but I really want to start taking better care of myself - in terms of rest, eating well, exercising and generally making sure that my needs are not always at the bottom of the list. I will think about what that means and I'll be working on my financial and personal goals in 2020.
Thanks MTP x0
