  • Thanks. I spoke to him yesterday, he was satisfied that the AIP he did a week or so ago was a good sign and we should go forward regardless. I'm going to explain to him my concerns about the system maybe not showing it tomorrow and see what he says. I'm also interested to gather other opinions about this though. He works with 19 lenders, and I just don't know if he specialises in this sort of lending or not. I guess all mortgage brokers should know the market and he said Halifax are more lenient etc and we can appeal. He said it's rare to have a decision in principle overturned in his experience, but they may ask for a 15% deposit instead of 10%, which we can thankfully provide...
  • Thought I'd post an update. I got my husband to call Barclaycard. Apparently they should never have referred this to any of the agencies in the first place as they allow a two week grace period (because we are all human beings...). I have explained the situation, and potential loss for us which would occur if, due to their less favourable treatment of us, we lost our mortgage and consequently the house. Nobody is saying we didn't pay a little late, but they normally don't report such a small and obvious oversight...
They have told me they are referring the situation to the correct team in the morning and it should be sorted quickly. Hopefully by Wednesday at the latest. According to them they would inform the credit reference agencies instantly or at latest within 24h.
This being the case, I think we will try to hold off on applying for the mortgage proper until we have seen the erroneous mark disappear from our file.
    Thanks again all.
  • I think most mainstream credit card providers will take a sympathetic view on a 1st time 'offence' such as this so hopefully it will be updated to not show as late.

Problem you may have is that the files don't always update quickly so you should ask them to confirm when they will update this - i.e. they may send off a file to the agencies once a month so if you could not see this for a few weeks.

As long as your broker is happy then they may be still happy as they know they will allow 1 late payment for example.
  • Thanks so much for your reply. I have posted just above your comment with an update.
