Bifocals or varifocals

I need some advice on what to buy. I need glasses for distance and my distance glasses are fine for driving, at the cinema and sporting events. I also now need them for watching tv but I don’t wear them because I rarely just watch tv. I watch tv and use my phone at the same time. With my perscription I cannot read with my glasses on so I am concidering bi or varifocals for the tv.

Since I will only be using these watching tv, do you think it’s worth paying for the more expensive varifocals or will the bifocals be ok?

    What is your prescription?

If you want one pair for closeup, TV and distance, varies will be the way to go.

I got decent pair on line £150 titanium rimless photochromic.

I only have one prescription for distance. I can read and see anything close up without glasses but I can’t see close up or read while wearing my distance glasses. If I get bifocals they won’t have a prescription for close up just glass.

I don't know if this is still true but it may be worth your while enquiring. Several years ago I had varifocals and struggled for 12 months with them. They did not suit, giving me headaches. When I went back to the opticians I was told if I had gone back during the first 3 months I could have changed them for bifocals for free. Instead, I had to pay.

Bi focal won't work if you need three distances.

TV and distance will be different.

I can see the tv perfectly when wearing my distance glasses, that’s why I think varifocals are an unnecessary expense. These glasses will not be leaving my sofa as this is the only place I look in the distance and read at the same time. I
wear glasses only for driving, cinema and watching tv and I have many pairs of driving/cinema glasses.
