Self employed and voluntary NI contributions

I have recently started working as self employed (started this year) and the previous 8-9 years I was a housewife and didn't work at all, so I have a big gap in my NI records that I would like to fill in.
Is it possible to pay for voluntary NI contributions for the previous years that I didn't work? And if yes, would I be able to do it with Class 2 contributions for the whole period although I only started being self employed this year?
Thanks!

You have obtained a state pension statement?

You can pay for (i think up to six) previous years.

If you weren't registered with HMRC as being self employed for the years in question I suspect they may want Class 3 rather than class 2 contributions.
Note that if you call them and tell them what year(s) you wish to pay they can provide you over the phone with a unique reference number that will allow you to make an online bank payment to them that will allow your record to get creditted.0 -
