Do I need to include wifes income in HMRC income and expenditure

Hi,

HMRC said that I may need to do an income and expenditure form as I cannot pay the £1800 that I owe within the time frame that they want.

The debt is due to the high income child benefit tax. I am the one earns above the threshold and the debt is related to my tax code.

On the income and expenditure form , will I have to disclose my wifes income, or just mine as it's my debt. Surely they can't assume that my wife would pay??

    You either:

    Give them a household income/expenditure

    OR

give them your income with you taking a pro-rata share of the household expenses

    OR

say that your wife declines to take part in the exercise and you're assuming a 50-50 split
