Buying from Amazon.com

Hope this is the best place to post my question.

I would like to buy a couple of items from Amazon.com (USA). Did a quick google and it came back with a company called borderlinx (http://www.borderlinx.com/GB/en/pages/buy-on-amazon-com-and-ship-to-the-uk/)

Is the the best way?

If you can't buy them in the UK (how about ebay?) then I guess buying from Amazon.com makes sense.

The items that I am looking at are not available in the uk at all. My question really is what is the best way to buy from Amazon.com, if it's feasible at all.

You can by direct on Amazon.com using a UK account if they will ship the item required overseas, as there are restrictions.

    Presumably not.

According to their site, they suspended all cross-border shipping, effective June 5, 2018.This was due to on ongoing (financial) dispute with DHL Supply Chain (the company that was handling their US hub operation).

Seems DHL Express (a different company) has also since also declined to continue to provide cross-border transportation to that company too - this seemed to be in Europe (UK, Germany) and Hong Kong.

As others have stated, you can usually order direct on Amazon.com using the same user id and password as you use on amazon.co.uk ... assuming the vendor will ship to the UK.
If not, depending on the vendor, consider trying to contact them to ask if they will ship to UK.

Also look on ebay (.co.uk & .com) to see if there are any vendors on their offering the item for sale and shipment to the UK

Don't forget to allow for import duty, VAT and customs clearance charges when ordering from the US.
Be careful of attempting to import prohibited items. If you order them, you are importing them.

Thank you all for replies. Never noticed that borderlinx had suspended service. Had another look on Amazon.com and there is a click box on the item page that says "ships to UK'. I will try later. Nothing dodgy about the items. Just a particular clothing brand for a present.
  • be mindful of the fact that you will be required to pay whatever customs duty (to HMRC) your order attracts when it arrives in the UK.
