  • Re the chicken how much do you tend too consume????

I go through quite abit it might be worth trying your local butcher shops mine sell the big 5kg packs of it which go hell of a long way over buying supermarket packets of chicken breasts. I train alot too ie 5-6 times a week so i eat a really high protein diet i go through two big blister packs of chicken a month at least 10kg.

    or try this

    https://www.musclefood.com/chicken-breast-fillets-bulk.html

I pay 24 for this at my local butchers.

Thank you for this. To be honest, I've only really been focused for the last 6 weeks so I'm still learning. My grocery budget has gone up but then my eating out/takeaway budget has been non-existent so that's covered the increase.

I had been buying the frozen chicken and fish 3 for £10 at Icel@nd because I have a 10% off card for shopping there. That makes it kinda cheaper. My friend has a C0stc0 card too so that's also a good place.

I'll certainly check out the link you sent me. The thing that could be crippling is if I decide to have supplements in my training. What do you do for those Scott-Weiland?

Any gym tips you could give me would be great. I had major surgery 18 months ago and I want to be stronger so my skeleton is not bearing all my weight.

    Thanks

  • Another £20.68 spent on groceries today but I'm fairly set up for the week now. YNAB tells me I have £27.20 still left in ths category so that'll be for fresh veg and milk throughout the week. Next payday is Friday so should be OK.

Car is 1/2 full of diesel which should last for the week as I'm not going anywhere special - this may change though.

Business is picking up for September so hopefully tonight's SW group will be well attended.

Foods prepared for the next two days - a whole pan of green lentils and chana dhal which is fantastic with fish and veggies. Very tasty and healthy. Trying to stay away from processed rubbish as it does me no good gastro-intestinally. enough said.

Off to prepare the stuff I need for group later. Double session so setting off at 2.30pm and going via the bank to pay in last week's money.

    Catch you later.....

Can't believe we are 1/3 of the way through September already.

Another rant - my weight loss nemesis is now available in the shops. Mince Pies!!! In September!! So now I have a 4 month gauntlet to run every time I shop!:mad::mad:

re Supplements it depends really what your goals are??? I am a runner so i run 3 times
a week i also go too the gym after work 3-4 times a week and i do alot of weights.

The net result is eat loads or i get knackered dead quick, my diet is quite high in protein but i prefer food to supplements. I don't take a lot of supplements i use a protein powder twice a day once after training and once before bed. I also take a vitamin d supplement (i am a nightshift worker) and a multi vitamin and a fish oil supplement .

I get my protein powder and supplements from Ebay of all places i use Ebay for several reasons. Main ones are most offer click and collect and i can get cashback by going through topcashback and nectar points.

Protein powder wise i use one called Phd Diet which is really good, its loaded with good aminos and has green tea in it so it helps keep your weight down. Plus the flavours are nice ie chocolate orange/ white chocolate/ mint choc/coffee flavour/vanilla cream all taste great and the mint one tastes like mint choc ice cream lol.

    Thanks - that's a great help!
I'd love to run but I've been advised to avoid high-impact stuff because of my surgery. I need to have a good sit down and sort all the information out.

I already take Vitamin D, fish oils, and a good robust vitamin tablet each day, and I too, prefer food to supplements although I can see they have a place in your regime.

I'm currently "cutting" to get my weight and body fat % down, then will switch to bulking once my PT is happy with my progress.

  • Yeah running is massively high impact i am retiring next once i have finished my first half marathon lol

Do you watch much stuff on youtube regarding diet or nutrition i can recommend some good clips too watch???

I hope the diet your pt has you on aint a silly fad diet like the 5-2 or a diet with zero carbs in it so you get results way to fast but !!!!!! you metabolism at the same time. I used to compete in powerlifting and bodybuilding so re diet i know my stuff. You can slowly add muscle while progressing with fat loss there is lean bulking diets and routines you can do.

Drop it to me in a pm and i will have a look if you want

Ha ha I'm never off youtube. Sometimes I con myself into thinking I can achieve my goals just be watching the videos!!

My PT is monitoring what I eat through the app he has given me access to. He's not controlling me in any way so I am free to follow the SW plan I usually follow. I've been having issues with intolerances so I generally eat really well and in a focused way. I don't smoke or drink alcohol - rather have a good cup of tea to be honest.

    Thanks for your support Scott-Weiland:D

  • I have just been asked to cover another group this Saturday so that'll be another amount of money into my debt-busting pot. I am however going to treat myself to an afternoon in the spa so I can go and sit in their steam room for an hour! chillaxing at it's finest. I get 10% off with my gym membership!

  • Hi Thistle,

Thought I'd pop in and say hello, I've subscribed to your diary.

The Spa sounds like a lovely treat x
  • Welcome Purplemumof2, thanks for dropping by.

Of to the spa now so catch you all later.
Going via the bank to pay in some cash - that'll swell the old balance a bit.
In other news, mortgage has gone up because of the interest rate rise and yes, the full 0.25% has been passed on!
OH has offered to cook dinner at his so that's a meal saved too (although from past experience I'll get a call later asking me to pick some stuff up.....:rotfl:Bless him!:A)
