  • Yes I keep reading about tumble drying to make clothes softer.

Do I have have to tumble dry it the once (easily done) or would I have to tumble dry after every wash to keep soft (not quite so easy)?

I am not sure, I don't have one myself so I just go to the launderette when its desperate

You would need to tumble every time

A hotter wash and an extra rinse may help but if he has sensory issues you may just have to try a different material

If he does have sensory issues then the school has to make allowances

Iammumtoone, a number of my kids had sensory issues with new clothing. In the end I used to go to the ends of the earth to find secondhand ones, which have been worn in & are much softer. Sadly when they mutated into teenagers, they went the other way & wouldn't be seen dead in anything that wasn't brand spanking new - had had a button replaced, for example. Sigh... but they've all turned out fairly sensible now!

I have been looking on ebay for second hand all I have found so far are second hand with stains :( I will keep searching.

Thanks, I found this when doing my own google search. Its called skin kind range now. Sadly I have left it too late and they have sold out (its online only). Its on my list to keep checking to see if they get any more stock in.

I have spoken to the medical professionals about his sensory issues and its not something you can get diagnosed for, so I may struggle to get the school to make allowances at this stage.

Its not just the scratchy feeling he is struggling with he also hates the feeling that he has to wear his shirt tucked into his trousers. I am hoping softer material will help with this as well.

He is on the waiting list for an ASD assessment but this will take months - I hope to have sorted or at least helped the shirt issue before then.
  • UPDATE checked M&S site again and the 100% cotton skin kind shirts are back in stock :j
