When giving references I've had a few where I've been informed of the job grade (and the salaries that grade attracts).0
-
In short - maybe.
Typically an employer can find a salary range from archived job adverts anyway. And if it’s public sector then your band will be an obvious indicator.
Why do you worry about this?0 -
Potentially they can find out your previous salary but I don't expect most would ask. I'm guessing from the question that you may have inflated your current salary at interview. Too late now, but if the question of current salary comes up try to avoid answering directly and say instead what you are looking for from the new job.0

The new employer will invariably ask for sight of 3 months previous salary slips, possibly insisting it's the originals not a copy. They usually ask after job offer is made/accepted.0

Really? I've never come across this, so your assertion that this 'invariably' happens is wide of the mark.0 -

I think some have misunderstood the post. He's asking if the current (soon to be ex) employer can find out their new employers offer. I too am curious why this would matter.0

I don't think I've ever been asked for payslips either. The only time I've ever needed them anywhere was for my mortgage.
When I started my current job I took in my last payslip as proof of my NI number and taxcode as my P45 hadn't come through yet but the HR manager said she didn't need to see it.0 -
I’ve also never been asked for previous payslips.0
