It's a con you pay premium prices for poor quality. We got some of it used to keep the cost down but it still costs £100s of pounds. It shouldn't be allowed.

I have always agreed with the notion of schoolchildren wearing school uniform but I do sympathise with parents especially those who do not have money to throw around . I think that they are being ripped off by schools which are getting a backhander from the suppliers for granting that supplier sole status. The only 2 things that the school should be able to insist on parents buying from them are the school badge to be sewn onto the blazer and perhaps the tie.Another thing that has not been mentioned is that now a lot of schools are changing to academies from local authority control the headteacher has total control over the school budget so where are the kickbacks from the clothing firms going if you know what I mean ?
All this needs looking into by the Education Department
