Where is the best place to buy a waterproof jacket needs to be light weight as need to take on holiday in December it needs to be for a more buxom figure :eek: also can i ask if there are any curvy ladies would you consider buying a more reasonably priced mens jacket ?

I bought a good, lightweight , waterproof jacket (with detachable hood) from Bon Marche last year. It is a size 24 and a decent length. Re buying men's jackets - I would definitely buy them if they were good prices. For one thing, they are often longer in the body (although the sleeve length could be a problem), plus they usually have more pockets, which is useful for me as I hate carrying a bag. Who is to say what is men's clothes or women's anyway. I often buy "men's" jumpers, t-shirts and thermal vests for the added length as they are often cheaper than plus-sizes in the women's section (which are often too short for my liking even though I am not tall). Obviously if you want pinks and/or florals there is not the choice, but I tend to go for plain, darker colours anyway, and if you are bothered by the buttons doing up the opposite way to that which you are used to then it may not work for you.
I also buy unscented deodorants designated for men if they are on offer and all sorts of things. It is just a marketing device to label them as men's or women's. My view is - who's going to know anyway (unless you tell them).

I have bought men's waterproof jackets. You don't mention your budget, or whether you are looking for a smartish jacket that is also waterproof, or a serious waterproof.
I have the following:
a serious waterproof from North Face (mens) fairly light weight. This is for hiking in the rain.
a really nice women's jacket that is very water-resistant (Gudruns Joden). Not very lightweight, but nice enough to wear all the time.
a women's lightweight waterproof from Lands' End. It is fine against rain showers, but doesn't have the serious weatherproofing that my North Face one does.

Suggest looking at Blacks, Cotswold Outdoor, Milletts, Craghoppers.
If you have a higher budget, for something beautiful and resilient that will last and last, look at Rohan.

Without hesitation: the chazzer. Keep your eyes peeled, and ye shall find.

I've bought some much larger sizes before, knowing that I can wear any number of layers and a coat underneath. (Me + cold weather = bad combination). Am pleased to say they've all been as good as new and I have never spent more than £3 on one.

eBay , just got a fabulous gortex mac for £12, and a windproof jacket running jacket for £10. Unfortunately I have a serious coat obsession so I'm still stalking an m&s stormwear coat that was originally £80. Note to self, no more coats !
