Wrongly advertised competition???

Firstly I don't want to seem ungrateful! I entered a competition to win a trip Germany and have won. However the competition was advertised on many different websites and the website I saw it on stated that the grand prize was for 2 people. Terms and conditions took you to the main website of the promoter which didn't state anywhere on there that the prize was in fact for 1. Just that the prize was one prize per person and per household. This seemed clear to me at the time of entering that the prize is still in fact for 2 people?
Its since been confirmed by the promoter that the prize is for one.
Surely this has been falsely advertised?
Just wanted someone else outlook on it?! Many thanks

Don't think anyone can offer you a real outlook on it without seeing the competition and the terms, you got a link?0

blog.gooutdoors.co.uk/win-adventure-holiday-germany-deuter/
There's a further link for terms on that link which takes you direct to deuter website.0 -
hmm.
On the GoOutdoors page it does say :
"
The Grand Prize
- A 7 night all-inclusive trip to Germany for two with return flights
"
But they're not running the competition, it's Deuter Sport that are running it and in their terms it doesn't state that it's for 2 people, when you entered you agreed to their terms not what it says on a site posting a link to the competition.
Unfortunate, but I don't think there's anywhere you can go with this.0 -
Personally, I think that from the competition page it is pretty unambiguous:
"The Grand Prize
- A 7 night all-inclusive trip to Germany for two with return flights"
Just above it states:
" 2 winners will be selected from each of the 7 participating nations and will be invited to Germany on an all-inclusive holiday."
In the full terms it says:
"Prizes: – 2 (#) winners will receive a one-week round trip to Germany (approximate retail value or “ARV”: £ 1,000); the trip will take place from 09/08/2019 to 09/15/2019
– every winner will receive a Deuter Futura Pro hiking pack model in addition (approximate retail value: £ 140)
Only one prize per person and per household will be awarded."
However, given the wording, I would say that an entrant would reasonably assume that each prize winner would receive a holiday for 2 people.
I would copy/capture/screenshot the competition page that states
"The Grand Prize
- A 7 night all-inclusive trip to Germany for two with return flights"
and argue my case. Just my opinion, of course...0 -
It does state: Prizes: – 2 (#) winners will receive a one-week round trip to Germany (approximate retail value or “ARV”: £ 1,000); the trip will take place from 09/08/2019 to 09/15/2019
And after reading the go outdoors blog and going through to entering. To me this states the grand prize is for 2 people. And the grand prize is a trip for 2.0 -
Well, no ... stating that there will be 2 winners doesn't mean the prize is for 2 people going together.
The prize could be for 10 people, that doesn't mean there's 10 prizes or 10 winners if you see what I mean, it's 1 prize of 10 tickets, there'll be one winner.
Although the GoOutdoors page does say for 2 people, they aren't providing the prize so what they say is kinda irrelevant to the actual terms of the competition you entered, it's a bit like me posting a competition in here and saying "Win a Porchse 911", when the actual prize a VW Beetle, You can't go chasing the promoter because I said in here the prize was a 911.
The only thing you can really do is speak to GoOutdoors, but they're not bound by the terms of the competition to give you anything since they're not phsically administering the competition, in effect all they did was post an incorrect description of the prize on their website. The Onus is on you to check the terms and conditions, which in no place mention it's for 2 people travelling together.
Not trying to be harsh, I can see and understand where the confusion comes from, it's just unfortunate that GoOutdoors posted a mis-leading / incorrect description of the competition.0 -

2, 3 & 4 all mention "2 UK winners" but this means what it says. Two separate people each win one prize - not one person wins two prizes (one winner + guest). Nothing on this path explicitly states it is for one person, although I would interpret it as the most likely case, especially given an ARV of £1000, and I would say this if I posted the comp.
Go Outdoors have made a definite error on http://blog.gooutdoors.co.uk/win-adventure-holiday-germany-deuter/ and I guess they have assumed the prize is for one winner + guest, rather than for two solo winners. Complain to them - they might send you something by way of apology.
If the MSE posting said "holiday for 2" then you wouldn't really expect MSE or the poster to be liable, and that is really what Go Outdoors have done.0
