That wasn't the question. They asked if the person WORKED on the bank holiday, would it still be deducted.
So I assume they wouldn't.
It's perfectly fair. Everyone still has the same number of PAID days off. (or pro rata'd to the same)0 -

Not necessarily.
In reality you don't have a choice and neither do they. You request leave and it is either approved or declined.
Many employers are very flexible with this; some decide to just shut down around Christmas for example and everyone gets time off. But most places, especially if you have kids; it's first come first served for leave outside term time.
It's very rare that an employer can allow more than a handful of staff off at any one time. (obviously that grows with the size of the organisation).0 -
If the person who normally works Mondays actually works on, for example, August Bank holiday Monday their employer can't deduct a day from their holiday entitlement.
If they don't work on that day they lose a day from their holiday entitlement, the same as they would any other holiday they take (as others have said).
They don't get less holiday than the employee who doesn't work Mondays. It's just that the employer effectively chooses some of their holiday dates.0
