Office Workers: Be honest, are you genuinely busy at work?

When I worked in a call centre I was busy. It was call after call and being constantly watched. Certainly no internet searching or cigarette breaks etc. Every job since I've been less busy. It can be a bad thing causing time to drag.... I'd rather be busy for 25 hours than try and fill up 37. There is so much I'd rather be doing.0

There may be days where I'm working 12 hours, there are days where I come in at 10.00, check a few emails and spend the rest of the day at the pub with some of the other senior staff or go home and play with the kids. I'm a lazy last minute type, I find it helps focus the mind knowing I have to write an application or create a database from scratch by the morning for some important tender we've gone for. Still, I love my job, and would do it for free.0
