How do i Get my money back ??

Hi, I just wondered if anyone knew how i can get my money back, i paid for a valuation to be down on a new build property over five weeks ago now, but a few days after i paid for this on my debit card i got a phone call to say the mortgage deal i went for had been withdrawn and they could no longer help me, so they said as they had not used my vauluation money they would refund it within 3 days that was over 5 weeks ago, i rang the mortgage company and emailed them even wrote and i get the same reply "we will refund back on your card in a few day"
Its starting to drive me mad now, Any ideas what i can do?
Thanks

  • ring them/email them outlining what has happened saying that you want to submit a formal service complaint and that you will take it to the Financial Ombudsman if not resolved quickly - you may be surprised how quickly that gets a result.

If you used an adviser, contact them and try to find out why they have not done more to help you.
I am an IFA (and boss o' t'swings idst)

  • Ring your bank asap and tell them you have paid for a service on your card that you did not receive. They should send you a form where you have to demonstrate that you have tried to get a refund. The company that debited your card gets a chargeback and you get you money.
  • What lender??

Go to the website and find thehow to complain, dont bother with the valuation or mortgage service desk you need to go straight for the throat! It costs them £500 minimum just to deal with a complaint that goes to ombudsman!

However when on the phone be calm but firm! Shouting will not get you anywhere!
