Refused a Bank of Scotland One card yesterday

I hold a current account at the BofS, I have about £2,000 of debt split between an MBNA and a bank of scotland Classic visa card.

I want to get all my dbt on an interset free card so tried to do it yesterday and was refused.

They thought it was probably as I am coming up on their records as having 3 Bof S credit cards- but I dont these ar accounts whnen I have lost my card and cancelled them which are showing as open credit card accounts.

This is my 3rd credit search in the last 6 months now though and 2 of them have been refused.

What are my options now?

I have been on to Credit cards to get all the unused "accounts" shut down

Have you asked for the cc companies to write to you to confirm the accounts have been closed at a zero balance? I have little faith in the banking system and prefer to be safe than sorry.

Are you on the electoral roll? If you arent that will affect your credit rating.

Martin has done an article somewhere on here about improving your credit rating so it might be an idea to search the site for that. Sorry I should have looked before I posted.

If you keep applying for stuff it will make you even more likely to get turned down. It makes you look desperate, or something. SO don't apply for anything else until you have sorted out your credit file.
  • Which means I am stuck paying big interst payments on credit cards and paying over the odds.... murder this.
