TSB Mortgage Deals

Options
In June I phoned the TSB about my fixed rate coming to an end in August. As many of you know, like many customers I was told I couldn’t be offered a deal due to the computer upgrade.

I was told “don’t worry, we will backdate any deal”. I phoned 3 times over the summer and was given the same message. When the BoE interest rate rose, I phoned again and I was told, don’t worry, you won’t be out of pocket.

Last week the TSB finally phoned to confirm the system was up and running, but when I reiterated that I had phoned previously and wanted my deal back dated pre-BoE raise, they said there were no deals previous. They said they withdrew existing customer deals months ago, so they would only back date a new deal on the current, newly released rates!

So my frustration and concern is that during the time it’s taken them to get this system up and running, did new customers get better rates than those available now?

I feel conned that I was told all summer not to worry when the BoE rose after I would have otherwise been able to fix it.

Is there a site that indexes rates to see how the TSB increased theirs post BoE increase?

For others out there, unless its in writing, don't believe them

OP I assume they record their calls, you can make a complaint to them

  • Hi,

This is simple mis-communication. The rates TSB are offering existing customers now are the exact same rates on offer in March 2018 prior to the system issues.

You will not be out of pocket as TSB hasn't raised it's existing customer rates when they have re-released them, despite the BoE rise.
  • We got a fixed rate deal at pre-rise rates after waiting a couple of months and it began this month. We are still waiting for the refund promised after having to sit on their SVR for 2 months.
