Over £200 on an electronic pony is a waste oif money whoever you are, I am not putting anyone down, and realistically, if you can afford to spend that on an electronic pony, because your kids will have excited faces on christmas day, then you really don't need to worry about money saving!!!! That is not a put down, I wish I was that loaded. I have 5 kids, 4 little girls who would love butterscotch (aged2,4,5and6), they have seen the ads, but that would be over £1000. I love this site always someone eager to take offence.

If someone wants to spend that much on a Christmas gift for their child then that is there business.

Is this site just for those in debt? Just for those scrimping and scraping? NO! It is for all of us to use whatever our circumstances.

It might be thanks to this site that she can afford a Pony ... who are you to judge??

But I will have to agree that quite obviously there are people in this world who actually think that this toy is a 'good' christmas buy.

Not judging her specifically. My issue with the freaky furry electronic pile of horse poo, is that it is a waste of money, however you look at it, and whoever and however rich you are. She (the OP) can spend her money on whatever she likes and waste whatever money she likes it has no effect on me.
My point is, this is a moneysaving website and purchasing a ludicrously expensive bit of plastic and wiring that has a plastic carrot and moves like a weird frightening horror movie style chuckie thing. that costs between £224 and £300 can in now way be described as moneysaving.
What I find personally annoying is that my 4 daughters go on about this ridiculous object because of some mushy americanised advert that makes them thing it's like a pet. I can't afford to buy this and it annoys me it's shoved in their faces like they should be able to get it for christmas.
This is however MSE and I am well aware that when people don't like someone's opinion they start dancing around and taking offence in a school yard manner, so be it.
I have no issue with the personal wealth of people who use this website and hope I have made it clear now.
I will sit back and await further peoples horror and offence that I could be so rude about a plastic toy, and that I could possibly infer people would waste their money on it. :p

And i am very thankful that when my lot saw it in Toysrus, and I pointed it out and said, "Ooh look there's Butterscotch" not only did they not realise as it was small (compared to their imaginations-they thought they could ride it properly) they also thought it was 'not really very nice after all mummy' so I guess I got away with it anyway.

  • I've seen them in Toys R Us, personally found it to be quite freaky. Thought this was quite funny though...

It IS moneysaving if the OP (or anyone else) was going to spend £300 on it but asked here and got it for £224.

The same as the PS3 or XBOX 360...

Its not about the comments toward the toy... I totally agree but you are making assumptions. This is a Moneysaving website... Its not a website for people on the breadline or below poverty level, it is for all comers and the fact the OP asked about the item first shows they are wanting opinions so they dont waste money. Moneysaving is for anybody ranging from saving 10P on a packet of biscuits to 3 grand on a car.

Just because you think it is a waste of money doesnt mean that someone doesnt want to wake up and see a happy face on christmas morning when thier child gets one... If it only lasts for a few weeks then thats there problem.

    Yes absolutely, what a bargain.

The same as the PS3 or XBOX 360... Fair play, but we have had a PS2 in the household for 5years now, and it has been used a lot, and it only cost £100. I would love to buy the PS3 or Xbox 360, but as my son is 8 I have told him that next year it will be cheaper (and really for an 8 year old, the PS2 is fine) We have thought long and hard as all the kids wanted vsmile/leappad/leapfrog/360' etc and decided that based on how much they will use them, we are going to get a wii for them to all share. I just can't see the pony having the same lasting appeal.
The gamestation can be used by many ages and both sexes for years.

Never said it wasn't for all at all, in fact tried to re-iterate this. I just beleive that moneysaving, whoever you are is not buying an electronic horse that does very little.

Of course I agree, I have 5 little blighters!

If I could I would like to by mine a real old-style wooden rocking horse. I think that is what really gets my goat, years ago, children were encouraged to play and have an imagination and nowadays it's all bizarre and electronic. If they pretend to feed an electronic horse they will equally play with a hobby horse.
I really have a problem with the toy and not the people whose kids want it

http://www.lessonsinplay.co.uk/showdetails.asp?id=1351 This is a good old fasion hobby horse. I think my dd will have hours of fun with it and it should last longer than Butterscotch.
