Can you check with the Land Registry to see if the charge has been removed?

  • best thing to do is to check the title deeds to your property (should be stored online with the land registry, and you can pay £3 to obtain a copy) as if the loan is paid off it should already have been removed.

If it's not removed, i'd then call and write to Barclays stating it needs to be removed asap due to remortgaging. if that doesn't work (and i'd be surprised if it doesn't) going down the complaints route should do the trick.

    good luck
