I'm paying back debt and found it is hard going sometimes. It is great to see the balance fall but not so great when you realise how much you have messed up and want to be 'normal'.

I mentally take half the debt payment for that month in my head and as I see things in shops I mentally choose what I would have if I had that money. Once I get to the end it is a fabulous feeling to realise that once I have paid everything back I can save half the debt payment and then choose to spend something each month or save more and I will have the money there to do it.

It's almost as if I am going to have a massive payrise when it comes to an end and I'm within 2 years of doing it.

Well Done RB, and WELCOME to MSE.

Don't worry too much about the Consolidation Loan Company - you have, legally, a certain amount of 'cooling off' period anyway - they will probably try every trick in the book to make you change your mind, but just stick to your guns, and to us.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
