Hi everyone,
Just a little background info! In may I bought an Outwell Camping charger from Go Outdoors with a built in usb port, the very first time we used it every item we had charged in the usb (my phone, my partners phone and Ecig ) stopped working. Luckily apple replaced mine under warranty, but my partner had to replace his and his ecig.
My 1st point of contact was the local store who didn’t offer a refund but said they would send the product to Europe to be tested.
After a few weeks of chasing they responded and advised me that a fault had been found, they would refund the product but not compensate my losses.
I emailed back and forth with their head office and they still wouldn’t compensate my losses even after quoting the sale of goods act etc.
I have issued proceedings using MCOL and they have defended …admitting a fault but again saying they’re not liable for my losses.
Im getting nervous now as MCOL have sent out directions questionaires! Any help or advice would be appreciated!

And is the claim for £650 like for like?
E.g. if the phone was a year old, then the value claimed needs to be for a 12 month old phone (second hand/refurb) not a brand new one.
Also, did you charge all three at the same time?? (E.g. if you charged them one at a time and two stopped working, it would be nuts to charge a third item!!)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
No i used the receipts to base the claim on.And is the claim for £650 like for like?

No i didnt charge 3 at the same time, we charged the phones overnight but they were still flat, we thought that they just needed a full charge at home and would come on again but they didnt, the egig just gradually drained altogether afterwards0 -

Ouch, thats quite a big error to make.
So phone 1 - How old and how much new?
E-cig - How old and how much new?
What was the fault with the charger? Do you have proof that the charger caused the damage?0 -

You said one was repaired under warranty - did they say what the issue was and what had caused it?
Have go outdoors elaborated on the fault and why they're not liable for the products? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

So you charged both phones at once over night, but found there was no charge on them in the morning?
When did the ecig then get charged?
(Just trying to establish if you could have realised that the charger was faulty and avoided any further damage. This is what Go Outdoors will no doubt try and do).
You cannot claim the new price. That would be betterment. You need to find and claim the CURRENT value of the items. Use SOLD prices on eBay to help you.
You will need to amend your claim.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

Yes thats right, the egig was charged the same day...we were camping so assumed it was just not strong enough and the phones were just flat, not broken. So you charged both phones at once over night, but found there was no charge on them in the morning?

People that ask for help then avoid answering questions. Good luck trying that in court.0
