Additional pension is part of your NHS scheme, and will increase your monthly payments from the scheme. You can only get this at the same time as your NHS pension, but the amount is guaranteed.
An AVC is paid to a private provider, this money is invested. The advantage is you can get this money back from age 55, but how much is dependent on investment returns.0
