Freezing greengages

I have been given some greengages. Do they freeze well and what is the best way of freezing them. I have successfully frozen some soft fruits, apart from strawberries which go the mush, but have not experience of stoned fruit. Any advice please.

I got given 25 lb of them once!! I cut them in half, removed the stones, and open froze them and then bagged them up once they were frozen, which worked fine.

When what did you do with them?

Strawberries are fine frozen for smoothies, but I would never recommend them for anything else as for some reason the colour leaches out of them as they defrost, leaving very anaemic-looking berries in what looks like a pool of blood :o

Some got turned into crumbles, but most of them were eventually jammed, as there were just so flippin' many. :D

  • I would like to use them halved as a dessert if they keep their shape or use on porridge. I don't want to make jam with them.

They keep their shape perfectly. I freeze plums as Lamewolf described.
