Hi all,
I've been lurking on here for a couple of weeks and the posts I have read have been very helpful. I took the step of sending in my forms for bankruptcy last Wednesday evening, I paid the fee etc.
On Thursday morning I received an email stating that I couldn't be found on the credit files and they needed more information, which I sent in immediately. Since then I have heard nothing back.
My account on the insolvency website states that they acknowledged my initial declaration and that they had sent an email to me requesting information, nothing else has been done since.
I rang them today to ask if the information had been received as the deadline was set as Monday, which was obviously a Bank Holiday, but they told me they couldn't tell me anything as they're not allowed to speak to the person dealing with my request until a decision has been made.
I have read many, many posts on here over the last two weeks and I know that generally, they got in touch quickly and in many cases interviews were done within days.
I have high anxiety and depression anyway, which is increased by the money worries, and I basically haven't slept more than 2-3 hours since I sent the papers in last Wednesday and the longer it takes the more I am thinking they're going to turn me down, which would cause chaos as every penny I had went to paying the fee.
My question is, has anyone else experienced this happening? Such a wait with nothing being done after initial contact? I understand they can take 28 days but it's odd they responded so fast only to then stop contact.
Can anyone reassure me this is relatively normal?
Thanks

Pretty normal I would say.
Unless you have hidden stacks of cash away somewhere, bankruptcy is pretty much a done deal.
Maybe a backlog due to the bank holiday, I’m sure they will be in touch soon.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I would deem it as normal.
You have been unfortunate with the fact that you needed to send it extra information and its a bank holiday, i am assuming they will have a separate department that deals with the extra information, more people more time.
Easy said than done but try to relax, you will get an answer soon.0 -
