Question for OS soup makers please ........

I have both a pressure cooker and a slow cooker.
Is there anybody on here who could advise me please on which would prove to be the most economical for making soups?
I know that the slow cooker is supposed to be quite economical to use - but so is the pressure cooker AND it uses gas on the hob and not electricity.
The reason I ask is that I've done a fabulous dish of soup in the SC today but then it dawned on me that it is only basically stewed vegetables which can be steamed in the pressure cooker and then the flavoured stocks added and some of the veggies 'whizzed' to give some 'body'.
Do we have a section of Pressure Cooker recipes on here?
Many thanks - Ollie

I would have thought that the economy would depend on the price of the ingredients.
Its a long time since I used either a pressure cooker or a slow cooker. But from what I recall a pressure cooker is supposed to be economical because it cooks more quickly. A slow cooker is supposed to be economical because it cooks slowly using less power. But you have to get the contents "on the boil" first.
You pay your money and you take your choice.0 -
Try this thread - Slow cooker vs pressure cooker.
For costs - Comparing costs of Remoska/pressure cooker/slow cooker.
I'm not aware of a pressure cooker recipe thread - possibly you could start one?

Hi, personally I would say a pressure cooker is good for soups as vegetables cook so quickly anyway, but I admit I'm biased - I love my pressure cooker!
I think slow cookers are better for meat based dishes.
I do make stock in my pressure cooker with chicken carcasses, bones etc, very quick and any little scraps of meat come off and can be added to the soup.
In the end I guess it's personal choice, both are pretty economical.0 -
Many thanks U've been framed, PenPen, and fozz.
I'm such a recent convert to the SC, that I had totally neglected the PC. It was yesterday afternoon when I suddenly had one of those  moments regarding veg cooking and that veg soup is only a glorified huge amount of veg that is then blitzed a bit
You know - I hadn't even noticed those threads doing the comparisons!
As my mother is always reminding me - if I had some common sense to go along with my brains, I could possibly be a bit dangerous! (very observant woman my mother!!)0
