Hi,
Well done for clearing the debt, i really don't want to rain on your parade, but if the debts were that old, and nothing had been paid for any period of 6 years, the debts would of been statute barred, and you would not of had to pay them anything..........I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thanks, Sourcrates.
I had actully been paying a token £5 a month up until last year and then cancelled the standing order and they started chasing me again so unsure if that qualifies as statute barred?
At least it's gone now.0 -

In that case the limitations act would not of applied, so you did the right thing.

What a lovely way to start a new year. Being debt-free must be nice....I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

It is, for the first time since I was probably 18, certainly the last 20 years.
The circumstances about how it came about are sad with losing my Mother but it is her gift for me to be able to do it.0 -

I think she would be happy that you used the money wisely, and glad you have a weight off your shoulders
