Hi Sourcrates,
I've still not received anything back yet, so still patiently waiting, but low and behold just a few days after receiving the letter from Lowell I get one from Lucas Credit Services saying I have an overdue debt blah-blah-blah.........
This still isn't showing on my Credit Report at the moment
Should I send a Provit letter to these guys aswell?
Cheers0 -
If it’s not an address you recognise it’s probably a mistrace - incorrect address link on your credit file. Contact credit reference agencies get it removed0

Quick update,
I received a letter yesterday from Lowell with basically a few pages of what appears to be the final bill from O2, & thats about it (bar the covering letter).
I'm not quite sure how this proves that the debt is mine, & i'm not convinced that it is. The address, as previously stated isn't one I've ever lived at & the phone number is never one i've owned/used.
Is there a template letter for me to respond to this or is it just a straight forward "I don't believe this debt is mine, i do not recognise the address & phone number etc etc"?
Not received anything about the other one yet
Thanks for any info you can give me
Cheers

If the account is not yours, then its either someone else`s they have mixed up with your name somehow, or it may be a case of fraud.
You will need to determine which it is, if its potential fraud, you need to report it to action fraud.

Hi,
Previous advise still stands.
Report it to action fraud, online is best :
https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/a-z-of-fraud/identity-fraud-and-identity-theft
get a ref/crime number, then write to Lowell, and say something like :
Dear Lowell,
Ref : xxxx xxxx
You have recently contacted me about an alleged debt with 02 in my name.
I must inform you that I have no knowledge of this debt, I have never had an 02 contract, and have never lived at the address you have for the debtor.
I believe I have been the victim of identity fraud, and have reported it as such to the police via Action Fraud, this is my ref/crime number :
xxxx xxxx xxxx.
Until this is investigated I must ask you to put all collection activity on hold until this matter gets resolved to my satisfaction, just to clarify, this is not my debt and I will not be paying it.
yours sincerely.

Of course this now poses more questions than answers, how has someone gotten hold of your details, where was the phone delivered, was this committed in person, at an 02 shop, these questions all require answers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
