f my mortgage is declined do they tell you how much they would be willing to offer?

I will hear back tomorrow hopefully about whether my application has been accepted. If my mortgage is declined do they tell you how much they would be willing to offer? As I’m just considering that if they are willing to offer say £5000 under what we’re applying for- I could possibly increase my deposit amount and borrow that or be ‘gifted’ that from a family member. Or maybe even decrease the asking price as it’s a new build and they are desperate to sell.
Thanks for the advice

If it’s a straight decline for criteria issues / internal credit scoring or previous credit conduct then its unlikely to be anything other than a decline.

If it’s down to affordability but ticks all other boxes then they might come back to you with a maximum possible borrowI got amount.

As above, as long as you've not lied about anything on application and it's just affordability, i.e. you're trying to lend the maximum amount the AIP/DIP offered then it's usually a 'we will lend you x instead of y' will be sent to you instead of a decline.
