Fingers crossed the renewal drops dramatically but statistically speaking he's within the dangerous boy racer category so that's why the premiums were high. Even though he's driving like a 65 year old grandma and wouldn't boy race even if he wanted to, he thinks too much about the consequences to do it.
As to Barclays I don't see the need to get into correspondence with them. They have the I&E statement along with the other creditors that's what they are getting. It'll change again after Christmas when I go self managed as it'll drop to token payments for a few months to rebuild the EF along with the extra I can put in the F&F fund. Who knows they may sell it and I might get a decent F&F offer :T0 -
Righto, Friday and nearly the weekend. :T
Interesting week. Found out the Barclays Overdraft account is marked as Closed and "Settled" on my Noddle account and Defaulted on LW's account for her DRO. Can't therefore understand how I can repay an account which is closed and settled so I've changed my SC info and marked the balance as zero, lets see what happens with that one.
Next onto Ratesetter and the only creditor who has not filed a Default against my account. They have put those horrible "Arrangement to Pay" markers on which will stay until 6 years after the DMP ends which could be in the 2040's
Wrote to them and asked them nice and politely to file the Default to which they simply replied no and if I didn't like it to go to the FOS. Not one to back away from a challenge like that I went and filled in the online form today, just await their reply now in a few weeks no doubt. Fingers crossed they will default but its unknown where the FOS are involved, just have to wait and see.
Two weeks until payday and skint fortnight. Booooo.......anyway we'll survive, walk the dog with the kids tomorrow in the woods so that'll be nice and cheap lol
Anywhoo nearly hometime just a few more emails to write..... :j0 -
Quick update....
Still waiting for the FOS to come back to me as regards my complaint against Ratesetter. I gave them a quick call and they said it can take up to 12 weeks to come back with a decision so wait and see, well after Christmas at this rate.
Got a letter through the post one of those standard, apply for a Credit card and you'll be accepted ones. Can't believe I'm being sent one of these given I'm in a DMP with 7 defaults still on my credit file. I know its one of those high interest rate ones but I'm thinking is it a good idea to get one to start to repair my credit file, you know pay for petrol on it then pay it off in a couple of days. Thinking it over... :undecided:0 -
Happy New Year :grouphug:
2019...what will this year bring I wonder. Hopefully plenty of F&F's and a closer DFD date would be nice.
Just done my annual I&E with SC and my DFD is still just over 16 years away. We'll get there eventually though. That'll make me 59 by the time its paid at that rate : eek:
SC were great as always, can't do IVA or bankruptcy because of my job so they recommended DMP. All straightforward really.
Barclays still haven't come back to me on the jointly owned overdraft which is part of my wife's DRO and marked as closed and settled on my Noddle report so I haven't paid them since October. Hopefully they'll just close it off and that'll be £485 less on my DMP.
FOS still looking into my complaint against Ratesetter not defaulting me which they have had since November. Obviously they are really busy or I think I would have heard....perhaps a phone call to nudge them.
Cap One... still paying £1 a month (have been for the last 2 years), wonder if they'll make an economic decision and close it. Anyone have any ideas how to ask this in a letter, may give this some thought. It'll take over 300 years to pay it off at that rate and doubt I'll see the end of that : rotfl:
Life front....car due MOT end of Jan so fingers crossed it'll sail through with little cost, especially just after Christmas when, like everyone else, money's tight.
As they say keep on chugging along and it'll all get sorted eventually. Off to do some work now. :beer:0 -
So much for regular posting lol, guess life just takes over.
Anyway, been assigned a case adjudicator from the FOS as regards my complaint against R******ter. They emailed on Friday 25th Jan and needed a reply by Monday the 28th. Never mind I've been waiting for months they need replies to their questions immediately. I replied with the info which they already had an clarified a couple of points so fingers crossed they go in my favour, if not the amount won't fall off my credit file until possible 2041
Booked a cheeky holiday, just have to pay it off now. Life is for living and whilst I am managing the money well, touch wood, a family holiday will be just what the doctor ordered. Put the deposit on my one and only credit card but that will be gone as soon as possible, not getting into a financial mess again. Deposit was only £200 so shouldn't take too long, Accepted that I'll have to pay a small amount of interest though.
Nothing too exciting on the money front. The usual 6 monthly letter from Cap One saying if we don't hear from you we'll keep your plan on £1 per month. This will make almost 2 years at £1 per month so I'm hoping they will make an economical decision to write off......never know it may happen :rotfl:
Everything else ticking along nicely. Still with SC as payments are affordable and I don't see the need to go self managed yet. Heard nothing from Barclays since I stopped paying them in October as part of LW's DRO. Seems they have written this off and closed the account. Means £485 less to pay so  for that.
Just a quick update today, promise I'll try to do better as regards updates but nothing exciting happening really. Just waiting for the FOS to come back to me.

Subscribed and wishing you all the luck :j0

Back from cheeky holiday and to a voicemail from the FOS. Called them back and guess what......R******er have agreed to issue my default on my loan with them.:j The lady at the FOS said because I had been unable to pay them the "minimum contracted amount" for over 2 years and there was no sign of being able to pay the minimum amount then she agreed that it would be unfair for my account not to be defaulted.
However the FOS have no powers to force a company to issue a default to a consumer but only to advise. This I didn't know so even though the FOS agreed with me R******er could have still said no.
Thankfully R******er agreed to issue the default but only from now and not backdated..so good result but will take a further 18 months to drop off my credit file.
Nothing else exciting. Back to work next week so at least another few days off.
Next idea is Cap 1 as I'm only paying them £1 per month, and have been for the last 2 years, I'm hoping they will consider writing this off, need to think how I'm going to word a letter to them, no doubt with a few I&E as they'll probably ask for one.
That means everything is defaulted now and will drop off my file by 2024 at the latest.
Back to sorting out the cases and mountains of clothes to wash :beer:0 -
My default from R*******er came through as agreed from their offer with the FOS. However they have backdated this to June 2017 so almost 2 years more than agreed. Best result I could hope for as at least it'll drop off my credit file in 2024 so I can start to re-build then.
Nothing else happening except my EF is now none existent as the clutch failed on the car and cost almost £500 to put this right. Start again I guess just hope nothing else breaks down.
Everything else ticking along nicely....0 -
Almost 5 months have passed since I put something on my diary.
...and so much has happened during that time. My LW's DRO has come to an end after her moratorium period and these accounts have all been defaulted, closed and marked as partially settled....all except one which has had a reminder sent. Can now start to re-build her credit file with a high interest card but won't be paying any interest as it'll only be used for say £30 of petrol and paid in full every month. Much better at debt management now with my DMP and her DRO.
As to my DMP, PRA bought out the debt with Cap One then noted this wasn't on my DMP so they contacted SC and asked for it to be added. SC were brilliant I have to say and added this with no fuss given I'd been paying it on a self managed basis for over 2 years. First payment comes out this month so at least they're all together rather than a separate self managed account.
Never did get round to writing a letter to Cap One asking them to consider writing it off but they probably would have just sold it on anyway so no loss...…
Other than that nothing exciting happening. Still looking to move but it's a bit harder with my LW having a DRO, lenders won't touch her, so I'll put it in my sole name. Stupid thing is they want 20% deposit now how is someone in a DMP supposed to have this amount available for a deposit (unless its in equity which mine won't be that high). Will have to see what offers are available when my house is sold.
Keeping my spreadsheet up to date and my balance is now £13,500 less than when I started so at least its coming down. Three years in and keeping going. Slowly but surely.....1 -
Wow, time is flying at the minute and no updates to my diary....must try harder.
Since last update had to drop payments to SC during Covid but going back to normal this month, so thats 6 months at a reduced payment but at least I could pay something. Debts down by just over £15k (25.3%) with the end date well off but at least its ongoing. No other debts other than small CC which is paid off each month to help to re-build credit history, coming along slowly but surely.
LW DRO ended well and slowly re-building her credit too so things ticking along nicely.
2020 is a pants year and hopefully 2021 will be better. With the economy as it is I'm betting SC will be swamped. To everyone struggling, it does get easier, especially with the help from SC. I don't think I could have done it without them and this wonderful group so thanks to all.
On a happier note doing really well for Christmas, all within budget too which is awesome. No holidays planned yet but who knows what the future will bring....always trying to be optimistic.
Keep going everyone we'll get through it all.0
