  • UPDATE - 27.09.2018

1 month down & so far so good!

I have had to reduce my overpayment budget to £300 which has added 5 years to my goal - 15 years to pay off (how many insurances?! Yeesh!!).

I am still happy with this though as 10 years knocked off from 25 year term :-)

Also my redemption date has been reduced by a month already after 2 overpayments - looking forward to seeing how much after 1 year!

I can see why people are addicted! Lol!

I can still have a reasonable savings amount per month & have booked a holiday too to celebrate all the hard work for the past 1.5 years!

Life is for living after all :-)

Going to pay out for some home improvements to hopefully reduce bills & add value to home.

First improvement - water butt for garden instead of garden hose.

Solar panels - are they worth the money?

  • UPDATE - 29.10.2018

2 months already since we moved in!! :rotfl:

It's crazy how quickly the time has flown & feels like we have done lots already!

After looking through various forums, we have decided on the following:

FOOD - Weekly budget has been reduced from £60 to £50 for the moment (hoping to reduce to £40).

We are downgrading our food (I think that's the term for it) to Asda Smart Price. A lot of the meals have actually been really nice, if not sometimes better than branded goods! I have been pleasantly surprised!!

HOUSE - We are in need of a bathroom refurbishment, mainly due to wasps getting through the light fittings at present :-(

After getting some online quotes STARTING from £4k, we have decided to DIY to reduce costs - thanks to the helpful guidance of fellow MSE folk.

Thankfully my Grandad is a retired joiner so he will be supervising to make sure the house is still on once piece afterwards!! Lol!

BILLS - We have had some issues with United Utilities wanting to bill us as well as taking out our monthly Direct Debit!

I made a complaint & now we don't have to pay next months bill as we have been credited enough to cover :-)

Smart Meters for Gas & Electric are being fitted on 7th November so fingers crossed no more estimated bills & we should be charged accurately.

I have reduced bill from £85 per month to £70 (for both) so I am hoping we stay in credit so we can reduce the bill even further.

We will be having a slight spend this weekend as we want new Christmas Decorations - can't wait!

Barton Grange, here we come! :xmassmile:xmastree:
