Mortgage with default

Just wanted to write a quick feel good post for anyone who is trawling through these pages looking for Just that! (Like I was for months)

Quick low down, my partner has squeaky clean green credit score. Me, two defaults and multiple late payments, last default only settled this March.

Broker #1 misadvised us and Just wanted to go straight down the adverse lender route and was going to charge us £300 for the pleasure!!!

Broker #2 charged us £149 and got us a mortgage with NatWest for the exact amount we needed due to exchange in the next few weeks!!! :j

Brokers are worth there weight in gold, as well as a good deposit!!! We are 75% LTV. Save hard and get a good broker and you won’t have to worry about much else!

Did you supply your broker with all three versions of your credit file?

It's possible the default doesn't show on all three and the lender chosen doesn't take data from the CRAs where your file doesn't appear clean.

EG - default on Experian and Call Credit but not on Equifax and lender takes data from Equifax alone.

NatWest isn't noted for accepting adverse credit business, so I suspect the default wasn't picked up.

As long as it's mentioned on the application and they chose not to question it further, there won't be any problems.
