    Yes and no.

Yes - each receipt is valid for one meal only.

No - you don't need to spend the initial 50p each, it could be done this way: you spend 50p then get your £1.99 big mac and then he uses your receipt from that to do the survey and get his own £1.99 big mac. (Although your chips may go cold while he's faffing with his survey, so 50p may be well spent).

so you could just use the one receipt and keep getting a new code for that one???
also, when it says it cannot be used in a drive through restaurant, is that completely, or could you go into the one that has a drive through but go and place your order instore. ??
    thanks all. xx

You need to go up the a proper old school till with a person there and present the voucher to them as you order "I'd like the £1.99 big mac and fries from the survey please" so they can press the button for it.

You can't do that on the drive through because you place your order into a speaker and they can't see your code (although the last time I used one of those they didn't check the code, they just hit the button and pitched the receipt into the bin.)

And you can't use the big touch screen order points, or use the app to buy now and collect in store, they don't know about the £1.99 option.

And yes, when you buy a £1.99 big mac and fries you'll get a new receipt and a new survey and then you can use that for another £1.99 big mac and fries, there really is no reason why anyone should ever pay full price.

That's interesting. I have used those vouchers in the last few months. The message on the voucher says something like "Not valid at Restaurants with a Drive Through". I took that to mean that the voucher would not be accepted at a Drive Through Restaurant, even if I walked in and ordered at the desk. Are you saying that my understanding is wrong, and that if I go to a Customer Desk at a Drive Through Restaurant, my voucher will be accepted? It will make a big difference to my sad life..

I have used them at my nearest McD in the main restaurant and that has a drive through in it.

Unfortunately, I wrote to,and have received a response from, Ronald himself. He advised me that the vouchers from the Metro Newspapers are acceptable only in High Street Restaurants. The alternative way to get a £1.99 meal is indeed to complete the "How did we do?" surveys and generate a code which will work in Drive Throughs too. Anyway, at least we are clear now, and the rest of the world can move on to contemplate other issues.
