Old Style Daily Wednesday 22nd August 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Morning everyone

I have a hospital appointment this morning, so I’m not planning on doing anything else.

Later this afternoon I’ve got an online shopping delivery coming. I do this three or four times a year when I’ve got voucher codes and stock up on heavy and bulky items that I don’t want to carry home. I find it so much easier.

The lamb shank I did for dinner yesterday was lovely and there is enough for dinner tonight. I’m going to do a roast and have got some cheesecake coming with the online delivery for dessert.

TA I’m thinking of you, Mt TA and the family.

Poppy I hope that your appointment yesterday went ok.

Nanny I hope that all goes well for Mr Fixit today, I will be thinking of you.

Csarina hopefully your OH is continuing to improve, and you are getting into a routine with the CA now.

Have a good a day everyone.

cliffsgirl wasn't recommending drugs for weight loss, Speed Food is what Slimming World call a group of food on their diet :DSEE HERE

I've just been pottering about lately, there hasn't been much to do. But I've got the freezers in order and have a loose meal plan – I can never plan properly because the others change their mind about what they want and end up eating something that I was saving for another day, lol. Bloke dropped off some paperwork last night, he must've seen the look on my face when he put the scrunched up bits of paper on the table because he spread them out and took a few minutes to flatten them and put them in a neat pile :D So today I'll be doing paperwork. Not much else planned apart from the usual housework.

I need to work on Scampi a bit, he's been nervous on his walks for the past few days and we're not managing to go far – he freezes, starts shaking and I can't get him to move. When I turn back to go the way we came, he's fine. It's not in the same place every time – that would easy to solve – so I have no idea what's going on.

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light cloud with sun trying to break through, already warm. I have a wash load ready to go out on the line.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going to work and DS2 still in his pit, I'll wake him shortly, he'll want a lift.

Dinner last night was disjointed due to hairdresser and fat club, menfolk had battered fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. I had baked fish and veg. Fat club was ok, didn't stay to class but lost 3lb, so total of 5 lb lost in 2 weeks - so much happier after that as according to my scales I'd stayed the same. So will just keep plodding along doing what I'm doing. Tonight's dinner I'm not sure so need to organise that later. Thinking I may do a bit of a mix up meal tonight as have quite a lot of stuff in the fridge that needs using up. Make make a vegetable frittata, served with frankfurter sausages, savoury rice and side salad and HM potato salad.

Work wasn't too bad yesterday and it looks like the technology problems have been sorted and things should be more settled now. We hope! I'm working today, training tomorrow on my day off, then back in Saturday morning but Bank holiday on Monday so get the day off and back to work Tuesday.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Thinking of you today Nan and hugs to you again TA.

It's raining here and looks like it's set for the day. Washing can be inside again. Yesterday was overcast, warm and breezy, don't know why but I love that weather.

I'm off for a mammogram this morning so will be late in at work, I feel like I'm chained to my desk at the moment it's so busy although I did get a lot done yesterday with all the children out for a trip.

Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX

Good morning all, it's been hammering down all night though the skies are clearing up now.

I'll be off to college again this morning, so much blooming prepping to do. My new academic diary arrived yesterday :j love a new piece of stationery and filling in bits and pieces.

Have to laugh at the speed thing - I can't be alone in never having heard of the SW thing and being surprised / shocked yesterday. All's well that ends well. Every day a school day!

Hugs all round, especially for those having tough times.

    Happy Wednesday everyone.

Thanks for the thread Holly and hugs to all those in need.
CHS has been dropped at work, I need to strip the bed today, not easy when I'm 4'11 and it's a big bed, even less easy on the boat where there is only about 18 inches clearance either side of the bed and we are listing, so I keep sliding along the floor.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning :)

Holly hope the appointment goes well today

Nan All the best with Mr Fix its review I will keep everything crossed that its a stay the same

Worked till 9.30pm last night which is way beyond my bed time :) I also now have a regular coaching slot on a Friday night which will go on till 10  that will put a kibosh on any semblance of a Friday social life but hey ho not much to lose :D

Stressful day with mum yesterday ...less said the better I probably wasn't in the best of moods myself but this gets no easier.

Asda arriving this morning with a top up shop I have some tea cakes in there which Im looking forward too :o small things eh. Bits of work to crack on with today and need to plan a new workbook for my new customer. Also need to put away the mountain of clothes I should have put away on Monday but confession time I squirrelled them away into the office so now really need to sort that.

Thinking about having a lamb kofta tonight in a flat bread so ill grab the mince out of the freezer now

Still think its inappropriate that a fat club uses the word speed for a type of food and for those of us not in with the in terminology connect speed and dieting to mean one thing. Is it the same club that classes food as sins too? some interesting psychology going on then that i guess keeps people going back.

Anyway on with the day hope yours is productive and fun :)

    Morning everyone,

Another one who is just pottering along in life, it’s a glorious summer’s morning here in EA, the WM is chugging away and once this load is finished I’m going to sort through the coats etc to start prepping them for winter, sorry.

Think I will cycle into the village and visit the garden centre for some rose food, my little patio one is looking less than happy in its pot so will see if a good feed will help.

Thinking of TA, Csarina caring for their loved ones, hope today goes well NW and general hugs to all that need one.

Have a good day folks x

Poppy, I hope you were able to have treatment yesterday.

Nanny, fingers crossed for Mr Fixit today.

Holly, I hope you have a positive appointment today.

Nelski, I agree with you about the slimming club. I went to it many years ago and remember being told to keep a plate of cubed corned beef in the fridge to snack on! There was no effort to educate about healthy eating then. I'm sure that has changed but I don't like the terminology they use.

Steve had his CT scan, all very straightforward but now another two weeks until we get the final diagnosis.

We're off to Laura's this morning, Steve's going to play golf with Brian and I'm going to walk Ziggy and take her to be clipped. Laura's at the office and they are going up to the Yorkshire house tonight en-route to Scotland.
