Adding on to mortgage

Hi
My girlfriend and I live together in a house that she purchased before we were together. Her rate is up and were are due to go to the bank in a few weeks to discuss remortgaging and adding me to the mortgage. My main concern is that, whilst I can afford to pay back the mortgage (and do each month) my credit history is poor due to some missed payments 5-6 years ago. How much of an obstacle will this be when it comes to putting me on the mortgage? Just looking to understand before we go and see her bank. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

It varies from lender to lender.
It's practically impossible to accurately guess the outcome.
Why not look at a remortgage (that's a new joint mortgage with a new lender to replace the old sole mortgage) instead of a "have what you're given" from the existing lender?

Thanks for the reply. We will be discussing the remortgage with her existing lender, but once we have had the house valued tomorrow then I will start looking at other lenders
