My debt is getting smaller.......finally

Haven't been on here for a while, so I thought I would update everyone on how I'm getting on.

Things got a bit tricky for a while, nearly had our house repossessed, but thankfully hubby got an extremely well paid job in March 2007 and we have been able to put the extra wages towards paying off our debts.

Ignoring the phonecalls delayed things for a while but ultimately we could not bury our heads in the sand any longer and had to deal with it. We put everything in writing as speaking to people on the phone was awkward. We put forward suggested payment plans and thankfully they were accepted.

We no longer use major credit cards. We do not have a cheque book. All bills are paid by direct debit and all our arrears are paid by standing order.
If we don't have the cash to pay for something, then we can't have it. A philosophy we should have been following for the last 10 years!!!!! I do have an Aqua Card with a very small limit on it, we need something to use for shopping online, but I pay the balance in full every month.

We do have some debts to sort out as you can see from my signature below, but we are getting there.

So to all of you out there in a similar position, keep up the good work. For those of you yet to embark on becoming debt free, go for it, and you will feel an amazing sense of relief that it is finally being dealt with.
