I think they're wonderful (and I have slipped discs). I bought a kingsize one in Costco a year or so back for about £160, I think. I wouldn't be without it now. I've slept on a full Tempur mattress too, and think the toppers are just as good. The memory foam pillows take some getting used to though - expect neck ache for a few days.

Complete mattresses are better than toppers, but toppers are a good way to try out memory foam. However the £160 that Sola paid is quite expensive for a topper.

The main advantages of using a complete mattress are:
    1) A topper can slide around on a mattress and cause more wear/damage.
    2) Extensive testing goes into matching the different components that go into a complete mattress to ensure maximum comfort and durability.

Which ever you decide on you need to make sure you go for between 2" and 2.5" of memory foam. The optimum density of the memory foam is 65kg per m3, however this depends on you preference, but don't go below 55kg.

I bought a complete king size memory mattress for my husband a few years back at Macro's for £190.00 would never go back to an ordinary one,
We also have the pillows my husband has the contour one I prefer the normal shape one.
Never tried the toppers but for the little difference in price I went to the complete mattress.
  • Any current deals on king-size memory mattresses?
    Thanks
