If he has been paying the cheque into his bank account there should be a record on his statement.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

You could try ringing up the bank and also paying for the mail redirecting service so as you can be sure to get the next cheque. Is it a state, company or private pension?

  • Has he not redirected his mail?

Wait for the next cheque and then you'll have the details :)

He can set up Mail Redirection up to 6 months after leaving his address. Also the very nice Royal Mail now allow us to go on their web site and can be set up there rather than sending in or going to the PO. Also payments must be made by card.

You can do it for up to one year on the first application.

I would suggest the PO was a BETTER place to process the application as its subject to proving who you are. So take in your proof, this will then be checked and noted and given back to you.

You can pay by cheque should you wish, that would be an item from list one as proof of who you are, or card, cash etc. From list A, others include debit card or passport
Just looked online and here is the full list for ID

    List 1
(Please choose one of the following)

(Please choose one of the following)
Cheque book - if you pay by cheque
Pension or benefit book, but only if you apply at the Post Office™ branch named on the book
Cheque guarantee, debit or credit card
Bank or building society book Recent bank or building society statement (within the last six months)
Store charge card, but not loyalty card Council rent book
    Passport
    Credit card statement
    National savings book

    List 2
Two different utility bills, (not mobile phone bills)
Driving licence - if you have a photocard licence, you must present it along with the paper Counterpart (form D740)
    Council tax payment book
Recent bank or building society statement (within the last six months)
    Credit card statement

personally would rather keep those than send off!

If you have access to the internet it is far easier. Also RM check with a either Equifax or Experian to validate you being at the address you are moving from. RM are trying to make it easier by having to go into the PO it takes longer to process the application. The aim is 5 working days but in practice can take much longer.

Rather than bother about getting post redirected, wouldn't it be better to go to the source - the pension providers - instead? Go to your father's last employer and contact the company secretary to find out how to get in touch with the company's pension trustees, who should be able to furnish you with the correct information.

As far as I am aware, we don't know that this is a company pension.

It could be from an insurance company.

Surely there is some paperwork comes with his cheque?

Possibly not for monthly payments, there would be an annual tax statement. Does he not have a file for his bank/pension/utility/council tax etc statements?
