ill and lost the will to tidy - please help!

My whole family have been struck down by a very unpleasant temperature/dodgy tummy/vomiting etc bug this week and I've been valiently sailing on through, looking after everyone, keeping things running smoothly-ish.

Then the night before last I went down with a temperature too...OH has only just stopped parting company with his insides, so feel I'm going to be on my own in this for a while. One kid off school, oldest (7) due back any minute, baby ill too.....

I know I need to hold it together until OH is up to doing his bit again. Daren't invite family round to help as frankly it's such a nasty bug I wouldn't want to pass it on to anyone....

I was up till nearly 1 last night listing stuff on ebay on half-price listing day as we DESPERATELY need to declutter - there is stuff everywhere, on every surface and baby is now walking and it gets worse by the minute as messing is his favourite hobby.... ;) Know that was silly, as I need my sleep but...there is too much to do....!!!!!

Please help me not panic (or collapse)....

Sure there must be a similar thread but am too tired to find it....

Get well, don't worry about the mess. Lots of time to tidy when you're well.

    Get well soon!

As other posters said, forget the perceived mess around you, the worl will not stop spinning honestly, just get well & life will continue smoothly again

  • When I was up to my eyeballs in mess (still am mostly) and the wheel had really fallen off after I had my DS (stress bunny that I am) someone (my MIL I think) said something very wise to me:

All the chores and the mess is OK - it'll still be there when you're up to dealing with it.

I think my mother then added 'and even if you did do it it'll all come back again'

You see, sometimes mothers are right - bah!

    Thank you......

In answer to your question, dorry, OH has been feeling dodgy since the beginning of the week, but hasn't been able to keep any food/drink in (to put it delicately!) since Wednesday. On the positive side, he just weighed himself and told me he'd lost 8lbs! and that it was the longest he'd ever gone 'without' food - Tuesday night's dinner was the last one to stay in... That said, he saw the GP this morning who just told him to come back on Monday if he's still heaving - a long time to wait.....

On the other hand, it may actually all be his own fault :p - although we've all had the same bug, he's the only one to have actually been sick. Eventually, he confessed to having grabbed a 'chicken kebab sandwich' on the way home the night before getting really ill. Might just be coincidence, or you can draw your own conclusions...... Can't be mean though, as he's so miserable....
I must say, this has made me really take my hat off to all single mums :T - I feel like I'm on the verge of collapse and I've only been doing it a few days......

    carol,

it does seem a long time for oh to be vomiting, when we have had tummy bugs and we have had loads, specially when ds2 was a baby, the sickness only last a day at most?? do you think it was the kebab and the rest of you only have a virus?? just a thought as the rest of you aren' t vomiting, very strange, as if its a bug like that, I would of thought you would of all had d & v...

I know what's its like. When we have had bugs in the past it is always me who had to pick myself back up and solider on, when all you want to do is stay in bed:mad:

Anyway, give it time, just take it easy for a couple of days. Rest is the best way to fight a virus!

    love and hugs dorry x
